Pupil Premium
In April 2011, the Government introduced the Pupil Premium for children who are entitled to Free School Meals.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantages reaches the pupils who need it most.
Schools are free to decide how to use this additional funding to support their pupils from low income families since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.
The provisional level of Pupil Premium funding for Windrush in 2023/24 is £480,150. This is for pupils eligible for free school meals (FSM) and for pupils in care who have been continuously looked after for six months.
